The 1st Annual Midwestern Invitational was held at the Brunswick Zone Bowling Center in Woodridge Illinois and hosted 18 bowlers making the trip and participating in this maiden event. It was a pleasure to welcome for the first time 2 new tournament bowlers; Jason Nelson from Missouri, and Robert Arciola from Illinois our Tournament Director. The Tournament began Friday with an Invocation and warm welcomes from our TD followed by the Honorable Gina Cunningham (Mayor of Woodridge Illinois). That kicked off our Doubles competition, and congratulations to Charles Karczewski of Fla. and Albert Martin of West Va. who bested the field of teams in this 3 game match play. After a hearty lunch the 1st set of singles completed the day.

Before Saturday’s singles play, we were privileged to have USBC Hall of Fame and PBA Champion Carmen Salvino and his lovely wife of 61 years Ginny, come out to visit with us, tell stories and keeping us laughing. Great coaching tips from a great bowler and true ambassador for the sport of bowling. We then completed singles sets 2 and 3 and finished Sunday’s sets 4 and 5, with a stair step roll off of all divisions Sunday afternoon. In the Scratch Div. second seed Eddy Hutchens took the title by defeating top seed George Holscher (180 to 165). In the “A” Division 3 seed Albert Martin defeated top seed Terry Rock (242 to 200). In the “B” Div. top seed James Tipton held off David Nelson Jr. who battled his way from the 4th seed in the division (192 to 181). Congratulations to all of the winners, and great bowling to everyone who participated.
